Definition

An XML sitemap is a file that lists all the URLs on a website to help search engines and AI crawlers discover and crawl content efficiently. It is particularly important for large sites, newly published content, and pages that may not be easily reached through internal links alone. An accurate, up-to-date XML sitemap helps AI crawlers find all of a brand’s indexable content — including glossary entries, service pages, and entity-defining pages that may not receive strong internal link support at launch. Submitting a sitemap to Google Search Console accelerates indexation of new content and helps identify crawl errors that might prevent AI citation.
