Methodology · Citation & Visibility Measurement

Definition

Sentiment analysis is the computational process of identifying and categorizing the emotional tone of text — positive, negative, or neutral — toward a brand, product, topic, or entity. In AI search contexts, it refers specifically to assessing the tone of AI-generated responses about a brand. AI systems do not just cite brands — they characterize them. A brand that is mentioned frequently in negative contexts across its digital footprint risks AI systems generating responses that reflect that negativity. Sentiment analysis applied to AI outputs reveals not just whether a brand is cited, but how it is framed — and whether the framing supports or undermines commercial goals.
