The local pack is the block of typically three local business listings displayed in Google search results for location-based queries — showing business name, rating, address, and hours, powered by Google Business Profile data. The local pack is being supplemented — and in some cases replaced — by AI-generated local recommendations in Google AI Mode and other generative surfaces. The same signals that drive local pack visibility (Google Business Profile completeness, review volume, NAP consistency, local citations) are the signals AI systems use to identify and recommend local businesses. For Hawaii businesses specifically, local pack and AI local optimization are the same workstream.
