Definition
Answer engine ranking is a brand’s relative position and prominence in AI-generated answer surfaces — measured by how frequently, how prominently, and in what context the brand appears when AI systems answer queries relevant to its domain. It is distinct from traditional search ranking because positions are not numeric — a brand is either cited, mentioned, or absent.
Why It Matters for AI Search
