AI share of voice is a brand’s proportional presence in AI-generated responses within a given topic area or competitive set — measured as the percentage of relevant AI responses that mention or cite the brand, relative to the total mentions across all competitors. AI share of voice translates AI citation data into competitive context. A brand with a 35% AI share of voice in its category is present in more than one-third of relevant AI responses — a meaningful competitive position. Tracking AI share of voice over time reveals whether optimization efforts are growing or losing ground relative to competitors, and identifies specific query areas where competitive displacement is occurring.
